
The Statistics program at Edward Olaseni Polytechnic is designed to build analytical thinkers and data-savvy professionals who can transform numbers into actionable insights. The curriculum equips students with tools in data collection, analysis, modelling, and predictive forecasting to solve real-world problems in business, healthcare, government, and more. The Statistics department at Edward Olaseni Polytechnic brings together data enthusiasts and critical thinkers from diverse backgrounds. Students benefit from a collaborative learning environment and access to mentors from both academia and industry. Graduates can pursue further studies or careers in data science, banking, market research, academia, public policy, and international organizations. Students may specialize in one of three areas: Applied Statistics, Data Analytics & Machine Learning, and Biostatistics & Public Health Data.
To be eligible for admission into the National Diploma (ND) program in Statistics, candidates must meet the following requirements:
Academic Qualifications:
Applicants must possess at least five (5) credit passes obtained in not more than two (2) sittings from any of the following examinations:
West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE)
Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (SSCE)
National Examination Council (NECO)
Ordinary Level General Certificate of Education (GCE O’Level)
National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB)
The required credits must include:
English Language
Mathematics
Any one (1) Basic Science subject from:
Physics
Chemistry
Biology or Agricultural Science
Any two (2) additional subjects from the following:
Geography
Further Mathematics
Statistics
Animal Husbandry
Government or Civic Education
Economics or Commerce
ICT / Data Processing / Computer Studies
